Tag Questions Examples

Tag questions are short phrases that are added to the end of a statement to turn it into a question. They are used to confirm or check the information stated in the statement. Tag questions are common in spoken English and can be used to express certainty or uncertainty, to seek agreement or disagreement, or to show politeness or interest. Here are some examples:

Positive statement with a negative tag question:
You like coffee, don’t you?
He’s a good singer, isn’t he? They’re coming to the party, aren’t they?
Negative statement with a positive tag question:
You don’t like coffee, do you?
He isn’t a good singer, is he?
They aren’t coming to the party, are they?

In general, the tag question takes the opposite form of the statement, and uses the appropriate auxiliary verb (do/does/did for present tense, and did/was/were for past tense).
